brandy berlin
educator, mind-body and integrative health specialist, lover of kittens and kindness
I first learned about yoga in my textbooks. Years later as a young history teacher, I would sneak off-campus during my lunch hour to take class at the local gym to help manage my stress, depression and gut issues. It didn't take long to realize my high schoolers could use some of the good stuff too, so I began infusing mindfulness into my curriculum. We all felt the impact, and if I had a dollar for each time I heard, "My mom needs this!" — I would have some dollars.
I believe together the teacher and the taught do the teaching and am devoted to practicing curiosity, gratitude and humor. I often ask aloud, “How does it get any better?" because Life has interesting ways of gifting us with unexpected opportunities and profound moments of grace. Everyone makes mistakes and suffers, and I hold the core belief that everyone has the right to rebound and recovery.
I am serious about supporting people to build resilience and actualize their values through the practices of Yoga and Ayurveda so they can handle life’s hijinks with compassion and courage. I am also a supreme silly head, and it should be noted that laughter through tears is my favorite emotion.
It is my hope all beings walk their path “forward never straight”. It is my hope we all remember “we gotta start somewhere”, because no matter where we are or what we have been through, the act of restarting, no matter how modest, holds the magic to lead us toward the miraculous. I choose hope, again and again, and hold it close to me always.
MY CORE VALUES
curiosity
I embrace a spirit of continuous learning and encourage curiosity as a path to growth, joy and self-discovery. I’m hell-bent on following the “awe-ha” moments as I wander with eagerness, wonder, and deep reverence.
connection
I wholeheartedly value genuine and meaningful connections with my community, clients , and partners, and seek to foster a sense of belonging in the spaces I hold. Relationships are everything and knowing how to be with people while also setting boundaries is at the heart of health.
courage
I choose courage over comfort because it helps us believe in ourselves. It is the roar inside that allows us to be scared and still do the next right thing. It takes courage to be vulnerable, own our story and get back on the pony that bucked us off.
